Solution:

1) Open the 'My Computer' folder.
2) Select the 'View' menu and select 'Options...'.
3) Click the 'File Types' tab.
4) In the 'Files of Type' list box, select 'Microsoft Word Document'.
5) Click 'Edit...'.
6) In the 'Actions' box, select 'Open'.
7) Select 'Edit'.
8) In the 'Application Used to Perform Action' list box, add a space and '%1' (with the quotation marks) at the end of the line.
EXAMPLE: C:\MSOffice\Word\word.exe <double quote>%1<double quote>
9) Click 'OK'.
10) Click 'Close'.
11) Click 'Close'.
